by Merijn van Delft
11/9/2024 – In his new Game of the Week show, Merijn van Delft presents a recent game by Dutch talent Eline Roebers. The 18-year old International Master just won the crown group in Hoogeveen by beating Mariya Muzychuk, Alexandra Kosteniuk and Machteld van Foreest, all of them with a 1.5-0.5 score. Merijn looks at Roebers' win against Kosteniuk. | Merijn's show is available on-demand with a ChessBase Premium Account. You can register a Premium account here.

In this Fritztrainer: “Attack like a Super GM” with Gukesh we touch upon all aspects of his play, with special emphasis on how you can become a better attacking player.

Game of the Week #644

For a while, Eline had to focus on school and her results dropped, but now she can focus on chess again and is making a beautiful comeback.

We selected her win with Black against former World Champion Kosteniuk as our Game of the Week. Both played with a lot of ambition and creativity, resulting in a very adventurous game.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

A. Kosteniuk - E. Roebers, Hoogeveen 2024
Position after 15.Bb3

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
