Game of the Week #641

With Caruana leading at the USA championship and Erigaisi on fire at the WR Chess Masters there is enough to choose from this week, but we went for something completely different.

Jeroen Noomen from Apeldoorn has been a computer chess expert for about 40 years now and pointed out an absolutely amazing game between Equisetum and Leela. Equisetum is an engine most people probably have never heard of, but the way it exploited a tactical oversight by Leela is astonishing.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

This week's show

The flexible Open Spanish

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
