Game of the Week #636

The Olympiad just started, but first we take a look at one of the most amazing games of the year so far. You have typical Sicilian themes and sacrifices, but to combine them all in one game and give it a new twist takes one of the greatest chess artists of our time.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

E. Najer - D. Dubov, Russian Championship, Barnaul 2024
Position after 20.Be3

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
