Game of the Week #554

Last weekend we had a lovely Bundesliga weekend in Hamburg where the Hamburger SK was host. Many hard-working helpers from the club organised a colourful and entertaining supporting programme and turned the event into a big chess party!

Daniil Yuffa, who plays for Doppelbauer Kiel, celebrated his own chess party and defeated Frederik Svane, who plays for the Hamburger SK, in great style.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with White?

D. Yuffa - F. Svane, Bundesliga 2023
Position after 14..Na5

This week’s show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
