6/15/2015 – It is a feat that had not been achieved in years, and the only other player to have done it was Viswanathan Anand. Wei Yi has become the repeat winner in the Leon Magistral rapids after defeating Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the finals by the minimum margin. Through a combination of resourcefulness, tenacity, and striking in the one opportunity that he was given, Wei Yi wins again!
6/14/2015 – The traditional Leon Rapids are taking place in Spain. The players this year are Wei Yi, Anton Guijarro, Ponomariov and Vachier-Lagrave. The semifinals have taken place and the Frenchman and the Chinese player have advanced, but both did so with great difficulties, winning their matches 2.5-1.5! Tomorrow will feature the strong final between Wei Yi and MVL.
8/25/2014 – In the small, and picturesque village of Sabiote, Spain, the 2014 Spanish Blitz Championship was held... in the streets. Indeed, with a small population of 4300 inhabitants, counting on spectators to come and see the chess made little sense, so instead the organizers brought the chess to the people, and it was a great success. Rising star David Anton Guijarra took first. An illustrated report.
6/10/2013 – The start of the three-day chess bonanza between Vassily Ivanchuk and Anish Giri did not bode well for the Ukrainian genius. After two days he was behind 5-1 and was so depressed he began speaking about retirement. Then on the last day, Ivanchuk came different, and he was a man on a mission. Though Ivanchuk ended with more points overall, Giri won due to the event scoring system. Big illustrated report by Leontxo García.
