Anastasiya Karlovich

Anastasiya Karlovich has been a Women Grandmaster since 2003. She earned a gold medal playing first board with the Ukrainian team in the European Youth Team Championship; and has won several Ukrainian and international chess tournaments. She started her journalist career as freelance journalist in 2006 by publishing reports on ChessBase.com and since then worked as a press officer for a variety of FIDE events.

She graduated from the National Law Academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise, where she teaches Constitutional Law of Foreign Countries while she finishes her PhD.

The largest chess club in the world

7/27/2014 – The United Arab Emirates has many landmarks that are famous around the world, including the tallest man-made structure, the Burj Khalifa, the world's biggest mall, the Dubai Mall, and the JW Marriott Marquis, the world's tallest hotel. Therefore it should come as a no big surprise that it is now home to the largest chess club in the world. Big illustrated report.

Promotional tour of women chess in Botswana

2/18/2014 – In their ongoing efforts to promote women chess abroad, WOM (FIDE Women Commission) sent WGM Anastasiya Karlovich from her frozen home in Ukraine (-15 C) to a toasty Botswana (+35 C). There she met the Botswana Federation officials, who showed their commitment to developing women chess by being the first nation to create its own Women Commission. A beautiful illustrated report.

Tbilisi: Dzagnidze beats Cramling in tiebreak, wins ACP Cup

2/23/2012 – It was an exciting finish: Swedish GM Pia Cramling was in the lead before the final round, in which she drew her game. Nana Dzagnidze won her final game to force a tiebreak. Both blitz games were drawn, and in the Armageddon the Georgian GM was able to win and take the title – together with the cool US $10,000 first prize.
