With his second victory Jan Gustafsson, who celebrated his 29th birthday last week, takes the lead by half a point and with a 2863 performance. He is poised to become the second German player in the last 25 years to win Dortmund (Arkadij Naiditsch did it in 2005). Here for the record are the previous winners:

On the second free day in Dortmund there was a traditional blitz tournament in the Town Hall. Here are impressions sent to us by Dagobert Kohlmeyer.
Amateurs against the stars, with five minutes to two minutes odds. In most
cases, as with Ivanchuk here playing black, the Super-GMs needed less than 120
seconds to defeat their opponents. But let the records show that Ivanchuk drew
his game against seven-year-old Jonas Dohr from St. Augustin.
Jonas' brother Niklas faced Vladimir Kramnik and got mated, in front of his
triplet siblings. Sister Christin does not play tournament chess but prefers
to ride.
This was all conducted in a spirit of fun. Here Patrick Werner from Dortmund
offered Jan Gustafsson a draw, which the latter turned down. Big mistake! Jan
ran out of time and lost the game....
...while Arkaidij Naiditsch lost his queen against Marcell Aulich from Brackel
