11/6/2020 – Herman Grooten’s first ChessBase show was launched two weeks ago. What makes the show special is Grooten’s teaching style. He uses elements of the “step method”, where players with zero chess knowledge can advance to strong club players, or even become a GM, as Jan Smeets has proven impressively. Furthermore, his whole life has been dedicated to chess from an early age! Herman will tell you more about this in a two-part video interview. The second part consists of two stunning positions, where knights move to the most unexpected spots on the chessboard.

3/2/2020 – Top seed Dimitri Reinderman got clear first place at the 12th edition of the Café Batavia Chess Tournament in Amsterdam. The Dutchman won seven, lost one and drew one to finish a full point ahead of Polish GM Tomasz Warakomski on 7½ out of 9. Third place went to Aljoscha Feuerstack from Germany. 2/26/2020 – The 12th edition of the Batavia Tournament is taking place from February 20th to March 1st at Café Batavia 1920 in Amsterdam. The event is a ten-player single round robin and gives participants the opportunity to earn a grandmaster norm. After five rounds, top seed Dimitri Reinderman is the sole leader with 4½ points.
