Game history

Answer

Problem: I get the following pop-up error message as soon as I would like to select a game from an existing database or input a new game: "Cannot access database: ..\ChessBase\History\Jahr_2018\04-April\2018-04-22" The pop-up window will not close, ChessBase can no longer be used and must be closed via Task Manager. All other ChessBase functions seem to still be working.

Solution: The program creates a backup copy of games which have been played through or edited. You will find these games in the user folder under Documents/ChessBase/History

The database is obviously defective and that is what is causing the error message. You can solve the problem by deleting the database displayed. The program then sets up a new database for storing games.

Alternatively – if automatic saving is not required – you can deactivate this backup function.

You can set this via File - Options - MISC.

Deactivate the entry “Game history” to switch off automatic saving.
