In Friend mode the program offers the user the option of playing games at approximately the same level as their own. So, what we have is a training mode which supports in targeted fashion the chess abilities of the user in practical games.

Not all the functions of the program are supported in Friend mode. For example, unlike in the case of regular games the early resigning of a game is not supported.

Under Options it is possible to set when to resign in a disadvantageous position:

This option is not supported for games in Friend mode. The reason for this is that it can be helpful for beginners to play out a game till its logical end.
