Question: I would like to download new games for the reference database. I start ChessBase 14 and Mega 2017. The download of the games has worked, however I cannot find them anywhere. No query as to whether I want to add the new games to my copy of Mega or to save them into a separate database. If I then sign in with my access data, I receive the indication that all the games have already been downloaded. So I can find neither any supplementary information nor a specific indication as to the updating! Is there then some standard pathway by which the games data is saved?
Answer: There are two possible possibilities described as follows:
A) If you wish to receive the new games collections as individual databases, please proceed as follows:
After logging into the games update server, mark those collections which you would like to download (left mouse click or Shift mouse click or Ctrl-mouse click to choose several entries).
Then click on the button: “Download selected entries”.
In the dialog box which then appears you can choose the option “Keep single database”.
Alternatively, here a database can also be selected with "Append to", e.g. the Megabase, or for example a database you yourself created such as Download 2017. Then all the entries selected will be copied rather than remaining as individual databases.
After the download you will then find the databases in the folder "Download - Subscription".
B) If you wish to check whether update databases are already in your version of Mega, then carry out the following step.
Load Mega and run a sort on the tab "Sources".
The Mega updates can be found by alphabetical order under the entry "Mega2017 Update [NN]".
