Training questions in server games

Answer

The integrated access software in Fritz 15 offers a new feature on our chess server Schach.de: The program independently adds training questions at critical moments of the game where one of the players missed a game-changing continuation.

Let’s take a look at how this feature works in practice.

Load server game

All the games which you have played using Fritz to access Schach.de are automatically saved to the MyInternetGames database on the computer’s hard drive. The database with your server games can be subsequently loaded and analysed with the help of a chess engine or be commented on with text/variations. Using the access client you can load your own server games My AccountPlayed Games.

The games in the database are then opened, also recognised by earlier versions of the program. Within the game list you will see game entries marked with a medal (brown).

Reminder

Using medals to help, certain games or positions in our ChessBase database can be permanently marked to be reviewed later. Fritz then looks at all of the game entries containing medals and adds training questions.

If you double click on a game entry marked with a medal the following happens:

The program goes straight to the critical position and offers you the chance to find the best move. Just like in a tournament game, the user has to try to find the correct move with limited thinking time. “Learning by doing” is a tried and tested method of consolidating previously acquired knowledge and so training questions from your own games is of enormous value.

Deleting training questions

Training questions do not have to be permanently saved and can be deleted at any time. After the game has been loaded training questions can be removed from the notation by right clicking the Remove comments function.

Does this also work with the web version of the client server?

If you regularly play games with the browser app. on Schach.de, the web app automatically saves your games to the database “play.chess.com.games“. This database can also be loaded using the MyGames app. for later analysis. However, here you will not see any automatically generated training questions. This function is not supported by the app.
