Prepare for specific players

Answer

In the huge game databases like the Big - or Mega Database you will not only find a comprehensive compilation of games of well-known players. Since ChessBase has been used consistently for many years to record amateur events, Opens, etc., the chances are very good to find also games of less prominent opponents and to prepare for these players. The player index of the database provides all relevant tools for the preparation for a specific player.

The game index of an open database can be opened in the game list by clicking on the Players tab.

The information within the lists in the three windows is clearly divided into columns. You can individually set the desired information in all three windows by showing or hiding a column entry.

The left window shows a list of all players with games in the selected database. A click on the column entry Last name sorts the column entry accordingly.

In the ribbon bar at the top of the player index you can see that intuitively only important functions are available here, which are relevant for viewing the player index. "Search White Games" filters all games of the selected player, which he has played as the attracting player.

Further functions are available with the right clicks implemented throughout ChessBase. This starts a context menu with further application-related functions.

There is an input line at the bottom of the player directory screen. Enter the first letters of a player's name.

The list immediately lists the matching player entries. Select the entry in the list view. Double click on the list entry calls the ID card and you can start a dossier directly from Index.

Double-click on the list entry to call the ID card and you can start a dossier directly from Index.

In the Games window all games of the player Carlsen are listed, below that in the Tournaments window one finds a listing of all tournaments in which Magnus Carlsen has participated. Using the column sorting, you can customize the display of the lists and display the desired information, e.g. sorting by year.

I would like to point out the especially informative entry Player Statistics. With this you get a compact very extensive player statistics with important opponents, tournament successes etc.
