Tactics and again tactics. According to many experts, good tactical skills are the key to high practical playing strength! Training tactical skills is therefore an important part of home training. ChessBase and Fritz offer a useful option in the search mask, with which you can quickly filter out games from a database, in which sacrificial combinations occurred.
In the search mask you can find this option under the tab Position.
If you activate the option "Sacrifice" with a check mark, the program automatically searches for all games in the database in which material was sacrificed at short notice. You can easily combine this option with other search criteria. Example: White player= "Tal" "Wins only" and the option "Sacrifices" in the position search immediately filters all games of GM Tal from the selected database.
The search function then immediately lists the games from the database.
The search results window offers maximum convenience when viewing the games. By clicking on a list entry, the position and the part notation corresponding to the search criterion are immediately displayed in the board window. So a key position with the sacrifice.
With the search for sacrifices, one quickly finds a rich selection of suitable positions for domestic training. Chess journalists get with the function a very practical tool in the hand when reviewing current tournaments to quickly filter out spectacular games from the multitude of new games.
