Practical experience with an opening variation

Answer

You are interested in a certain opening variation and would like to play several games in a row with a selected board position/variation against our chess programs to get to know the typical characteristics and treatment methods of the variation better.  You can easily do this with the program?

For this purpose, the function " Theme Blitz " is useful, which can be called up under the menu item Training.

When the function is started, the current board position is taken over with the opening played. It does not matter from which game phase the position originates. The Blitz theme is especially useful for learning and understanding openings.

Here is a practical example:

The game with a rarely played variation of the King's Indian Attack comes from the Mega Database and is currently being analyzed with the Fritz Engine. You want to better understand the procedure in this system and now select under Menu Training - Theme Blitz. In the first step, select a game level or set the desired thinking time for the game.

In the dialog that appears you will now see the current board position.

You can now practically try out the variation directly against the chess program.

If the opening is relevant for you with both sides, select the function " Change sides".  Helpful for beginners and newcomers is the option " Learn moves ".

If you enter a move that deviates from the main variation, the integrated coach switches on and points out the deviation.

If you wish, the coach will show you the correct move of the variant with "Show move".
