Set individual playing strength of Komodo Dragon

Answer

Question: I have recently purchased the new version of Komodo Dragon. On your site you advertise that you can set the engine's playing strength "from 1 to 3500 ELO" in the program. In the analysis you can indeed do that but in the analysis you usually use the strongest setting. If you want to train against computer opponents, you can't set the strength in this way. There is only the possibility to choose between (beginner, recreational player, club player, etc.) or in the classical classic menu under Training/Evaluation Game, but there you can only set the game between 1130 and 2530. Have I overlooked something, or is it really only possible to set the the free setting of the playing strength only in the analysis?

Answer: In the first screen of Komodo Dragon 3, go to "Classic Menus" on the left.

Here you select Engine - Load Engine from the menu. In the following dialog select Dragon 3 by Komodo Chess and then click on the button "Advanced - Engine Parameters".

In the section "UCI Elo" you can now enter the desired Elo value with which the program should play against you. Put a check mark behind the listed parameters of the dialog box with the numerical value. In the example you can see that a value with only 400 points has been set here. Please do not check the "Auto Skill" box.

You can save your settings in the Engine Parameters dialog box and reload them for later use at any time.

Important: After the desired elo value has been set and the entry has been confirmed by clicking OK, you still have to set the time to play (menu Start - Levels - Blitz Game) and finally click on New Game (CTRL-N). The Elofeature offers the highly motivating option for every user - no matter what skill level - to start directly against the program with an Elowert desired by the user. The higher the elo value set, the more discreet and inconspicuous the errors interspersed by the program will be.
