Distinguish database types

Answer

ChessBase 17 supports all major data formats that have been established over the years. Besides the old data formats like *.cbf,*.cbv,*.pgn, *.cbh there is now the new 2CBH format, which extends the functionality of the program.

Usually there are a lot of databases in the start screen, the database window, and they are displayed there in the form of icons. How can you recognize the different database types in the view?

The simplest and, in my opinion, the best solution is to right-click in the window and select the option "View - Details" from the context menu.

Here you can immediately see under the column entry Format in which data format the database recorded in the DB window was saved.

However, the preferences are different depending on the user's imagination, so many users prefer the view under differentiation of the databases with the icons.

Here, for example, you can see the new database type with the corresponding extension of the name designation.
