After you have performed a search with ChessBase, you want to copy the games to another database. What to do ? Well, here many ways lead to Rome. Below we describe one method, but it is true that here many "ways lead to Rome". As almost always, the right mouse button is used in this application example. But one after the other.
After the search query has been executed, you will find the result (= games) neatly listed in the games list in the search result.
Now right-click the first list entry and choose Edit - Select All from the context menu.
What happens ? You will notice that suddenly all list entries are highlighted, i.e. marked for further editing.
Now another right-click on the marked entries will help. In the context menu we select Edit again and then the term Copy, which is conclusive for our intention. So: don't be shy and courageously select the entry Copy.
Now we come to the next step. ChessBase "knows" by now that we want to copy the selected games. But where to ? We still have to tell the program explicitly. Therefore we switch back to the database window and click with the right mouse button (again !!!) on the icon of the database where ChessBase should copy the games. From the context menu we now select functions we are already familiar with: Edit - and then the entry Paste. Confirm with OK and the games are immediately copied to the desired database.
As you can see, the use of the right mouse button and the intensive familiarization with the operating concept of the context menus is definitely worthwhile. You will be rewarded with a much smoother workflow and can concentrate on what actually interests us all the most: pure chess !
Tip: if you only want to copy certain games, select the corresponding entries by holding down the CTRL key and left-clicking on the game or list entry. Afterwards you carry out exactly the procedure described before.
Tip: By the way, the procedure also works after a search in our online database. After the search is completed and the search results are listed, select the games to be copied and use Copy - Paste to save the games permanently in a database on the hard disk.
