Texts in the database

Answer

Our database format (2CBH and CBH) allows not only simple storage of game notations, positions or game data. Databases can also contain detailed texts including embedded links, the database texts. All database texts are created with the integrated text editor of ChessBase and contain important information.

The screenshot below shows an example of how database texts are displayed within a game list.

Double-click on the list entry to display the database text.

Within the text, you can click on the links to directly load the game discussed in the text or, in the case of Fritz Trainers, directly load the matching video.

The database texts are usually located at the beginning of the game list, but can also be stored in the middle or at the end of the list. Therefore, the user can search specifically for database texts in one or more databases.

Let's assume you want to search several databases for database texts with ChessBase. To do this, select the databases to be searched by holding down the CTRL key and clicking the mouse.

Right click starts the context menu, from which we call the extended search mask with "Search". In the search mask there is a button "Text" under the tab "Game data".

If this switch is activated, the program filters all existing database texts in the search results window.

Tip: If you frequently perform a search query for database texts, ChessBase 17 allows you to save the criteria for the search and load them again when needed! These functions are available in the search mask via " Load " and " Save ".
