Note on annotated games

Answer

The majority of ChessBase 17 users use the Mega Database as a reference. This game database contains many annotated games, it is the most comprehensive database with annotated games.

There are many different methods to access the annotated games, for example via the annotator index.

The easiest way to see the number of moves is in the game list of a database. Start the game list with a double click. There you will find the column entry "Moves ".

By clicking on the column entry, the games are displayed in ascending or descending order according to the number of moves within the games. This principle of column sorting works exactly the same with the other column entries.

In this context there is another useful information which can be called by column entry. However, this must be activated beforehand.

Right-click on the list header to display all available column entries in connection with the game list. Activate the entry "Line moves" here.

In the column entry "Line Moves" you can immediately see the number of all moves within the variants. This makes it possible, for example, to use the column sorting to quickly filter out games from the database that have been commented on particularly intensively with variants.
