Question: in the current version of CB17 there is no real transparency in the breakdown of subvariants into A1, A1a, etc. In CB16 this gives me a clear picture of the game progress with comments and analysis. In the current version this is unreadable and I ask for support.

Answer: within CB17 the structuring is there. You can set this structuring of the notation with detailed variants in the options.
