Question: how do I organize the continuation of the Mega Database subscription (here MegaBase-2022) after the computer change; i.e. how do I get Chessbase to make the weekly deliveries available on the new computer from this point on?
Answer: in this case it is sufficient for the Mega2022 game update if you simply log in to ChessBase16 with the ChessBase account for which the game subscription was registered.
The database program offers the user the option to download a weekly published game update with about 5000 games from current tournaments. These new games can be managed by the user either in a separate database or in separate databases. With a few simple clicks this is done with the database software.
Note: several special functions - also the game update - only work if the user is logged in with a valid ChessBase account within the program!
In the database window you will find the meaningful entry "New games".
The program offers the new updates released since the last download, these can be selected by the user, downloaded and imported into the reference database, for example.
After confirmation, the download starts and the games are imported into the reference database.
The user can download each of the update databases individually. For this, the desired database(s) must be marked by mouse click in the "DataAboManager".
If you now click on the button "Download selected entries", only the selected databases will be downloaded. This happens even if they have already been integrated into the Mega Database by clicking on "New games".
After the download of the selected games is finished, the program asks where the games of the update should be saved. Here you as a user have the possibility to attach them to any database, which may well be a database other than the reference database. Alternatively you can save the single database(s) locally on your computer. In the latter case the database will be stored in the ChessBase database path under Download - Subscription.
If you already have a Mega Database Update account - as described in the initial question - and want to transfer it to the ChessBase account, please click on the "Transfer Subscriptions" option in the Update menu at the top:
Under "Old name", please enter the e-mail address under which the update service was previously running. And in the field "Old password" enter your previous password for the update service.
After confirming the entries you now have access to old old updates via your ChessBase account.
