The standard format for game notations on the Internet is the PGN format, which is based on pure ascii text. We still point out that this data format is ideal for data exchange, but for advanced editing functions the user should always use our internal CBH format.
A standard feature of Windows is the direct linking of file types with the application programs. For example, if you double-click on files with the extension *.doc in Windows Explorer, Word is automatically started.
Under "Tools - Options - Misc" you can define if after a double click on a PGN file ChessBase should be started directly as default application for reading PGN databases. Activate the option "Register PGN" with a check mark.
After a double click on a PGN file in future ChessBase will be started immediately and you can access the contents of the PGN file directly. If you use another software to access PGN files, deactivate the entry in the options dialog of the program.
