Question: I would like to assign my own images to my self-created databases. I have installed some DVDs from Chessbase that show a custom image in the database overview. How can I add my own JPGs as icons for my databases?
Answer: In principle you need a graphics program to create and edit the base icons. There are numerous freeware programs with which you can perform the necessary steps.
The graphic intended as an icon must be saved in square form in the first step. For example, a size of 256*256 pixels makes sense, then save the graphic with the extension *.ico. If you name the file with the database name and save it in the same directory as the other database files, the icon will be displayed.
There are many freeware programs that you can use to edit these icons.
