Player index

Answer

A search for a specific player can be carried out with our programs in different ways. Frequently the search mask is used for that purpose in Fritz or ChessBase, though personally when I am searching for specific players I prefer to use the Player index. When you are searching for games by a specific player the Player index offers very precise results.

For example, using the search mask to find games by the player Leonhard Hanke. The search takes some time and the results do show the games by the player Hanke, but games by a player called Hanker are also displayed. How do we obtain exclusively the games played by Hanke? The route via the Player index manages this more quickly.

Open the database you wish to search and launch the Player index with a click on the tab “Players”. At the bottom of the screen you will find the input line “Search”, into which you enter the name.

The program immediately leaps to the first player with the name “Hanke”. The games list with those played by the player selected can be found in the games window to the right of the entries from the Player index.

In addition the program also gives you a list of all the tournaments in which the named player has taken part.
