Displaying the name of the opening

Answer

Fritz not only offers many advanced functions, but it also takes into account the needs of beginners. Anyone  starting out in chess will find it useful if the name of the opening on the board is displayed.

Question: In a game against Fritz where can you see which opening is on the board at a particular moment? The name of the opening as well as its ECO code can be found at the bottom of the screen in the program’s status bar.

What can you do if Fritz is not displaying the information? In this case you must first activate the display via the Menu heading  View.

If you use the mouse to tick the box "Status bar" the display is activated and in games the program now shows the name of the opening at the bottom of the screen in the status bar.

There is another function which is helpful when it comes to questions about the opening.

Menu Analysis – Classify opening.

This allows you to call up from the openings key the position which is relevant to the classification, in the dialog the name of the opening is also displayed in full.
