The basic setting for the speed of animation of the pieces on the board when playing through games in Fritz and ChessBase is set at fast. So the pieces move really quickly across the board in order for you to scroll through games notation quickly if so desired.
Many users desire a much reduced speed of animation in order to be able to better follow the games. A right click on the board window starts the setings dialog for the graphic chess board.
If you move the slider to the right under the entry “Animation”, the speed of the movement of the pieces is clearly reduced. This option for settings is available both in Fritz and in ChessBase.
