Game of the Week #663

While Gukesh is the proud new world champion, leading the new generation, Magnus Carlsen is still the undisputed number one in the world. It will be interesting to see how long Magnus can stay on top.

In the Norwegian League he did a good job, scoring 3 out of 3, winning four rating points, and consolidating his number one position. Our game of the week is Carlsen's impressive win with Black against his former coach Simen Agdestein.

Warm-up question: What would you play here with Black?

This week's show

In this opening Black opts for active piece play and is not afraid to fight for the initiative from an early stage. One of the many good features of this opening is that Black is often the side which controls the pace of the game.
