The 7th edition of Gibraltar's Gibtelecom Chess Festival is taking place from
Tuesday January 27 to Thursday February 5, 2009 at the Caleta Hotel, one of
Gibraltar's best hotels.
After seven rounds Azeri GM Vugar Gashimov is in the lead, with 6.0/7 points
and a rating perfomance of 2826. In hot pursuit are the well-known GMs Svidler,
Harikrishna, Milov, Beliavsky, Ganguly, Kotronias and Lopez Martinez.

A critical round seven game: Vugar Gashimov vs Alexander Beliavsky, who
had the sole lead after six rounds. Gashimov won this game in 48 moves
and took over the sole lead.
