In this episode, we conclude our discussion of the Taimanov Variation but we do so with a bang. One game that should not be missed is the exciting encounter between Chinese prodigy Wei Yi and five-time Dutch women's champion, Anne Haast, played at the Tata Steel Tournament 2015 in the Challengers group.
Anne employed a set-up that had been featured earlier in the same tournament in the Masters in a game between Saric and Giri. In this game, Giri had improved upon an earlier game in which he had encountered difficulties against Radjabov (also in the same year).
But Wei Yi had done his homework and unleashed a novelty on the 16th move. Anne's response was not sufficient, allowing Wei Yi to launch a dizzying attack.
