3/14/2019 – The Association of Chess Professionals recently enacted changes to its statutes in advance of new board member elections. All the results are in and the newly expanded eleven-person board has a mix of members, including eight new ones, from across the chess world. ACP Chairman Yuri Garrett says the larger board should serve as a "think tank" for chess and avoid conflicts of interest with FIDE despite some overlapping responsibilities among its board members.

9/11/2017 – Magnus Carlsen made the bold decision to play in this unpredictable knock out format of the World Cup, and on Sunday he was eliminated by world number 35 Bu Xiangzhi of China. Along with Magnus, also Kramnik and Nakamura have had to book their return tickets. Out of the top ten players in the world that were playing at this event, only one has qualified to round four. 2/15/2017 – The "golden couple" GM Zhang Zhong (FIDE rating 2641) and WGM Li Ruofan (FIDE rating 2352) are Singapore's top players. But they have been banned from participating in the the forthcoming Asian Zonal 3.3 which starts on February 24, 2017, in Tagaytay, Philippines. The Singapore Chess Federation accusing them of not going through the SCF when registering for other events, and of showing "insufficient involvement in the local chess life." The Association of Chess Professionals has protested.

8/4/2016 – The FIDE office in Athens has received a proposal by the President of the RCF suggesting that World Champion should in the future be allowed to "accept the challenge of any player who can contribute to the prize fund and the costs of holding of the match." FIDE would get 50% of the prize fund. The proposal, which is to be discussed in September at the FIDE Congress in Baku, has met with immediate protest from the Association of Chess Professionals.

It has 60 questions and it includes topics like Rules of Chess, Time Controls, Draw Offers, Anti-Cheating, World Championship Cycle and a lot more. You are invited to take part and make your opinion count! We will report on the results once the data has been evaluated. The survey, in English and Russian, will run until March 15 and is open to everyone.
7/6/2015 – Recently the third-best female player in history, GM Koneru Humpy, forfeited a game and withdrew from a tournament – and explained it to us in a critical interview. Now the Indian Chess Federation is calling on FIDE to sanction Humpy. This could be in the form of a warning or reprimand, a fine up to $25,000, revocations of her GM title and a ban from chess for up to 15 years.
7/16/2014 – After three rounds of this seven-player round robin (category 17) the very talented 20-year-old Filipino GM has scored 2.5/3 points, with a rating performance of 2924. Although adjournments are allowed in this event, there was just one occasion to seal a move – and the game was decided without continuation.
