Lawrence in London (Part 1)

Each week, I bring you the latest trends, games and combinations from elite chess tournaments on Tuesday at 17:00 UTC (18:00 CET, 12 Noon EST).

I will be talking about all the happening here in London, including the side events such as the British KO and FIDE Open.

"Game of the Day" is Jones-Howell, from British KO semis. A pure roller-coaster where Gawain unleashed a fantastic opening idea but ultimately succumbed to a fantastic Howell comeback.

But first, from the elite four: Here Carlsen repeated with 30.c1/31.a2, but what would happen if he just played 31.♗xe4 instead?

Read a review of Trent's previous FritzTrainer on the "Baffling b3 Sicilian"!
