Round 7

BannerThe European Club Cup began on Sunday, at 14:00 UTC (15:00 CET / 9:00 AM EST). There are a total of seven rounds through Saturday, November 17th with no rest days. The venue is the Karisma Hotel in Ulcinj (Montenegro).

In the Open, the Italian club Obiettivo Risarcimento Padova maintained its unblemished record to win the tournament. Georgian powerhouse NONA now edged out rivals in the Women's tournament.

Live games and commentary

Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

As is customary for many years, there are two parallel events, an open tournament and a women's team tournament. 

The open tournament will be attended by 66 teams. The team of Alkaloid from North Macedonia is the nominally strongest team with an average of 2701. It is headed by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Dmitry Andreikin. Mednyi Vsadnik (Russia, Leinier Dominguez at 1), Novy Bor (Czech Republic, Harikrishna behind Babula at 2) and Padova (Rapport) take the next places in the seedling list.

The women's tournament will be held with 14 teams. The purely Ukrainian team of the Kiev Chess Federation with the two Muzychuk siblings on the first boards is the Elo favorite. It is followed by Monaco (with Humpy Koneru) and Nona (Georgia).

@Zagliveri_chess - I've changed Macedonia to North Macedonia, assuming that's what you're referring to. If something else, please elaborate. Also, feel free to use the reader feedback link to let us know of any mistakes you feel we've made on three other articles. We regularly make corrections when warranted, and it should go without saying any implication about being on "someone's payroll" or having an "agenda" is silly nonsense.

You should use the nationally recognized names of countries. This is the fourth article in a few months where you have failed in this regard. Unless you do that intentionally because you are on someone's payroll or you have an agenda to promote.
