1/7/2017 – In December he turned 65. For decades Jan Timman was a top GMs – in 1982 in fact the world's number two player, behind Anatoly Karpov, against whom he played a World Championship match. Timman is also an expert in endgame studies, with many prize-winning compositions to his name. 10/6/2016 – This year the Russian city of Murmansk celebrates its 100th birthday. Part of the celebrations is the 4. Basamro International Chess tournament, a tournament with junior teams from Russia, Rotterdam, Sussex, St. Petersburg and Paris. Part of the celebrations is also a four-game match between Anatoly Karpov and Jan Timman. 10/21/2015 – After two draws Jan Timman showed his strategic skills to win the third game of his match against Jorden van Foreest in fine style. In the second match in Hoogeveen between Sopiko Guramishvili and Anna Maja Kazarian Guramishvili continues to dominate and won her third game in a row. After five rounds Sengupta Deep emerged as sole leader in the open tournament.Discuss
