Games entered quickly

Answer

Our large reference databases, such as the Mega Database, are partly based on games that are entered by users at tournaments or privately themselves and then forwarded to us. ChessBase offers some useful functions to speed up the input of games. Especially when entering the opening moves of a game, many mouse clicks can be saved if you enter the opening moves with the help of an opening book.

Start a new board window and click on the Live Book tab. This will give you direct access to the information in the live book stored online. Alternatively, it also works very well with a classical opening book stored on the hard disk.

This looks like this, for example:

By means of the arrow keys up or down one selects the move, when navigating with the right arrow key in the tree the move is transferred into the notation.

It is also possible to enter variants. Go back with the left arrow key to the place where a variant is to be entered and navigate with the arrow keys to an alternative continuation. The variant is entered automatically, or the play is inserted directly into the notation as a variant.

With this procedure you save many mouse clicks and can enter lots faster!
