Tip: player index

Answer

ChessBase offers numerous search functions, e.g. for player names. Instead of a search via the “normal” search mask access via the Player index is much more efficient. The player index can be found in every games list in an open database. The player index is available both in database programs and in chess programs!

So, the index offers quick and accurate results when you are searching for players, above all in unedited databases, e.g. with your internet games from our server!

Let us suppose that you are using the search mask in to find games by a player called Leonhard Hanke. The search result does list games played by Hanke, but also those of a player called Hanker. How do you get only the games of the player called Hanke?

In this example the result is quickly achieved by going through the player index. Open the database to be searched and activate the player index with a click on the tab Player.  At the bottom of the screen you will find the input box “Search”; enter the name there.

The games list with games of the player selected can be found in the games window to the right of  the entries from the player index. In addition, the program provides you with a list of all the tournaments contested by the player in question.
