Gukesh needs to win the London Chess Classic to keep his chances of playing in the 2024 Candidates tournament alive. His 3rd round game against Volokitin was his most impressive. Against a symmetrical variation of the English, he opted for a doubled fianchetto. Black sacrificed a pawn, won it back soon after, but then faced some serious coordination problems. With the help of a powerful flank attack, Gukesh managed to win the game in just 28 moves.

Exercise: White has started expanding on the kingside. How should he proceed?
