Interactive tournament tables

by ChessBase
2/24/2018 – Tables are the heart of tournament reports. Who won, who lost, who is currently first, who finished finally first, who played how against whom? But the new ChessBase tables offer much more than pairings and results. They also offer photos of and information about players, Elo-charts, games to replay, and more.

Informative tournament tables

The tables in our current tournament reports contain a lot of information, though some of it is hidden.

E.g. If you scroll over a player's name in the table his photo will appear.

Clicking the name of a player loads a tab with the data the ChessBase Playerbase has about this player: name, nationality, date of birth, Elo chart, and additional photos.

Clicking the arrows ">" or "<" (marked green in the picture above) allows you to view all the photos of this player in the Playerbase. Going to the graph that shows how his or her Elo rating has developed over time.

But back to the table: if you click on a result in the table, e.g. Giri vs Anand, this game automatically loads from the database that stores all games shown on live.chessbase.com. The game appears in the ChessBase game viewer and you can play through it.

The links at the bottom of the replayer (marked green above) lead you back to the table (Cross Table, right), offer you to download the games (Download PGN, center) or lead you to a list of all tournaments or matches in the archive (Back To Archive, left).

The fifth column of this list is Table. Clicking one of the Table links takes you directly to the table of the chosen tournament.

Of course, you can also have a look at the standings of tournaments that are currently shown on live.chessbase.com but are not finished yet. Clicking on Table (in the picture above on the right, below the results) leads to the current table of the tournament/match. However, keep in mind that the table might still be incomplete and results may be missing — this sometimes happens when not all games of the tournament are transmitted via the liveserver, e.g. in huge open tournaments.

This feature is a work in progress, and we welcome your feedback on how to improve it. Some features will be available only to ChessBase account holders. One more reason to become a ChessBase premium member!
