German League playoff match: LIVE

5/24/2018 – Today in Baden-Baden the match is held for the German League Championship 2018. The team of OSG Baden-Baden meets SG Solingen in a tiebreak match after both teams were tied through fifteen regulation rounds. Baden-Baden is very strong, as usual, led by Fabiano Caruana, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, and Viswanathan Anand, but Solingen has brought in world number nine Anish Giri to play top board.

The Bundesliga season 2017/18 ended in a tie. After fifteen matches, defending champion OSG Baden-Baden and SG Solingen were at the top, each with 27 match points. Both teams lost once, Baden-Baden against Solingen and Solingen against the third-placed Hockenheim, and both also gave away a single draw.

Now, according to the regulations, a tie-break has to be decided. Baden-Baden earned the right to host due to their higher number of board points. Consequently, the match takes place in the Kulturhaus L8 in Baden-Baden.
