About the tournament

The FIDE Online Steinitz Memorial features two 10-player double round-robins taking place on chess24 from May 15-17 to celebrate the 1st World Chess Champion Wilhelm Steinitz (1836-1900). The total prize fund is €30,000, the time control is 3 minutes per player for all moves, with a 2-second increment from move 1. No draw offers are allowed before move 30. A tie for 1st will be decided by an Armageddon game, where White has 5 minutes to Black's 4 but a draw counts as a win for Black.
