ChessBase Account - Guided tour of Videos

by Albert Silver
3/17/2016 – Of all of new web apps in ChessBase Account, the one that undoubtedly offers the greatest value would be the Videos section. Available only to Premium subscribers, it literally offers hundreds of hours of viewing material with dozens of commercial videos from the ChessBase Shop available for free. To see what goodies there are, watch this video guided tour.

Winning starts with what you know
The new version 18 offers completely new possibilities for chess training and analysis: playing style analysis, search for strategic themes, access to 6 billion Lichess games, player preparation by matching Lichess games, download Chess.com games with built-in API, built-in cloud engine and much more.

If you have looked into the ChessBase Shop for a nice DVD to choose, and sat there like a child in a toy store told you could choose one, gnawed by uncertainty, then this is unquestionably the hands-down best choice.

With a Premium subscription to ChessBase Account, you get access to dozens of videos on opening, middlegame, and the endgame, not to mention archived shows by GMs such as Daniel King, Karsten Mueller and Simon Williams. These range from the classic multi-part lectures, to fun programs such as the move-by-move series by Simon Williams, to interactive quizzes to test your skills with video feedback, and much more. Want to know what there is and see what it looks like? Check out the video below for a guided tour of all the goodies.

We hope you enjoy it!

The idea of these apps / services is good, the performance is lousy.
Since hours the server for the opening database does not respond, cannot load my opening tree, and there is not even a proper error message.
The tactics trainer repeatedly looses connection and needs restart.

These new offerings very much prompted me to buy, yearly, into a quality and quantity of professionalism that will undoubtedly provide tons of hours of excitement, learning, planning, improvement and experience for chess players at all levels.
I do wish that some sort of pre-dating and indeed pre-ordering could be supplied, for example in the case of the much anticipated, next Chess-base 14 arrival?

If I had the time. It still feels a bit tricky to watch these videos but unfortunately also a bit tricky to pull down moves from a book on a chessboard. With these videos you also all too often see a dirty old man. The ideal would be a good audio file you could play with a cool guy that talks and speak slowly and softly so you can make these moves on your own board. And a function that have a push back button that one could press to repeat the last move if need be and then play the sound file from the point again . But that's too much science fiction to hope for? Why this? Well Freidrich Friedel you know that what flashes on the screen you dont remember.
