8.5.2012 - They are being held from May 4th to 14th 2012 at the First Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Lots of interesting players – China, India and Vietnam are fast becoming super-powers in chess. However, top seed Le Quang Liem lost his first round game, and 20-year-old Indonesian WGM Irene Kharisma Sukandar is leading the women's section. Lots of pictures and some really great video reports.

Introduction and opening ceremony (2:20 min into the video) and the start of round one

Action from the playing hall, interviews (with captions in English!) and analysis with ChessBase graphics. You
should definitely go to 3:40 min for an enchanting wrap-up, including typical Vietnamese implosive consonants

Roud three report, with nice interviews with Sukandar Irine Kharisma and Batchimeg Tuvshintugs, and then two
wonderfully cute – there, we said it! – Vietnamese anchors summarising the round in news-room style.
