The
clock simul between Vladimir Kramnik and Marie Sebag (21) from France + the
24-year-old Dutch GM Jan Werle was played in the new office of DGT (Digital
Game Technology).
The games took place in a kind of a boxing ring. DGT has plans to build a real
"Chess Arena" in the near future. This will have glass walls and will
completely isolate the players from the spectators (who will be quite invisible
to the players). More trial events are planned for later this year.
The simultaneous match between Kramnik and Sebag + Werle took place on the
50th birthday of one of DGT's founding members, Albert Vasse (the surname is
pronounced "fas-se"). He was given a signed drawing by Vladimir Kramnik
for this occasion.

You can see two of the cameras that are used in the Foidos Internet Presentation
System. A total of six video cameras is available in the system, which
will be used for the World Championship between Vishy Anand and Vladimir Kramnik
in October this year.

At the end Kramnik won the match 2-0, after two exciting games. Jan Werle said
he started too optimistically as he really wanted to take the chance to beat
Kramnik. Marie had a good defence in the opening, but like Werle got into time
trouble in the end. Marie said she had played against Kramnik ten years earlier,
with the same result.
