Another rapid chess final with Anatoly Karpov

4.11.2002 - Does the picture look familiar? For the third time in recent months we see Anatoly Karpov in the final of a world-class rapid chess event. After the Eurotel Trophy and the recent Cap d'Agde event the 12th world champion is now facing Vishy Anand in the final of the Corsica International Open. The games will be played on Monday, November 4th. More

It's Karpov vs Anand in the finals

They started off with 350 players from 32 countries, amateurs and GMs. Now they are down to two, the finalists in the 6th Corsica Open. On Monday November 4 at 10:30 and at 14:30 ex world champion Anatoly Karpov faces India's Viswanathan Anand, who has chalked up some awesome rapid chess results lately.

Anand won the Eurotel Trophy (against Karpov in the final!), he went on to beat FIDE world champion Ruslan Ponomariov in the Mainz Chess Classic, and then took the FIDE World Chess Cup (at regular time controls) in Hyderabad last month. He has also set his sights to cross the 2800 Elo mark, as he confirmed in a Hindustan Times interview.
