The Sinquefield Cup is taking place from September 9th to September 15th at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. The tournament brings together the top two players in the world as well as the top two Americans in a double round robin. The time control is the standard FIDE 90 minutes for 40 moves plus thirty minutes at move 40 with 30 second increment throughout.

The games begin Monday September 9th at 1 pm CST (Central Standard Time). Today the players had a meet and greet event with the fans and an autograph session for an hour and a half.

Levon Aronian was very enthusiastic with the fans and was extremely approachable

Hikaru Nakamura is the local favorite, and the only player that will be staying at his own apartment during the event

Fans had the opportunity to take pictures not only with the group of players...

but also individually.

The line was quite long with dozens upon dozens of fans enduring the rain to get in the room with the grandmasters

Fans came in all ages

Most fans brought chessboards, posters and chess books for the autographs

Some other fans came very prepared to the event...

This is a poster of Magnus in the London Eye, some spectators even brought memorabilia from the London Classic for signatures!

Many Armenians came to meet their hero, Levon Aronian. The Armenian flag was very prevalent at the meet and greet event.
