Most of the players will be travelling to Mexico a number
of days before the start of the world championship, to cure the problem
of the time difference.
The World Championship starts with an Opening Ceremony in Mexico City's
Theatre on Wednesday, September 12 at 19:00h. The individual rounds start
at 14:00h (2 p.m.) local time – you can find the corresponding time
zone of your location here.
The closing ceremony takes place in the former City Hall on Sunday, September
30 at 19:00h (7 p.m.). |
Coverage
ChessBase will be covering the event comprehensively, with full reports on
each round. Live transmission of the games will be provided by the official
tournament web site (see below) and on Playchess.com,
where GM Yasser Seirawan will provide running audio commentary with live board
analysis. The broadcast will take place in a special World Championship room
on the Playchess server. It is likely that we will also broadcast video images
and interviews from Mexico.
In the next two weeks we will in addition be providing indepth portraits of
the participants.
