The chess duel Man vs Machine, Vladimir Kramnik vs Deep Fritz, begins next Saturday (November 25) and lasts until December 5th. It is sponsored by the RAG Aktiengesellschaft, one of Europe's largest energy companies. It takes place in the National Art Gallery in Bonn, Germany, together with a major Guggenheime Exposition in the same building. The schedule is as follows:

This super-tournament will take place in Wijk aan Zee, Holland, from January 12 to 28, 2007. There are three groups, and the participants of the first two have been announced. In Group A there are nine GMs over 2700, and all the players ranked 1–5 in the world are present.

Torneo Ciudad de Linares - Morelia 2007

As in the 2006 edition this double round robin tournament is split between Mexico and Spain. The first half will be staged in Morelia from February 16 to 25, 2007, the second half in Linares from March 2 to 11 2007. The participants are:

The prize fund is Euros 100,000 for first place, €75,000 for second, €50,000 for third, followed by €30,000, €20,000, €15,000, €13,000 and €11,000 for the rest.
