The First Samba Cup, Skanderborg, Denmark

The First Samba Cup in Denmark ended on Sunday with a four-way tie for first. Danish GMs Peter Heine Nielsen and Curt Hansen , Darmen Sadvakasov of Kazakhstan, Nigel Short of Britain all scored 5.5 points in nine games. In the final round only Hansen had a win to catch up with the others. Disappointing the minus 214 performance of the rising Indian star Krishnan Sasikiran, who started well enough but collapsed after a shock defeat at the hands of the ruthless Nigel Short.
